Thunder and lightning filled the sky Wednesday and nearly a half an inch of rain fell in the Hermiston area over night.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rainfall overnight came between 12:30 a.m. and 12:53 a.m. this morning. More rain may fall today with the weather service predicting a 60-percent chance of rain today. More thunderstorms are expected after 11 a.m.
The high temperature today should be around 84 degrees with an overnight low of 62. The weather service calls for a 30-percent chance of rain on Friday before things clear up over the weekend. Temperatures should stay in the 80s during the weekend before climbing back into the 90s next week.
KNDU is reporting a weak tornado struck near Rattlesnake Mountain on Wednesday. The last reported tornado in the area was in Umatilla County in 2010, according to the station.
