Nellie M. Berry died on Oct. 26, 2018 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 92.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1926 in Hermiston to Tom and Nellie Goodwin Moore.
Nellie was raised and attended schools in Stanfield and Hermiston. She was united in marriage to Warren Rust on Oct. 11, 1940 and they had two daughters, Sharon and Debra. Nellie worked for the forest service, at the Umatilla Army Depot and in maintenance at the McNary Dam for several years before retiring. Warren preceded her in death in 2002. Nellie married Clyde Morgan Berry in 2006 and he preceded her in death in 2010.
She was a member of NARFE, the Good Sam Club and Hermiston Bowling League, and had served as a Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader as well as grand marshal of the Umatilla Fair Parade. Nellie enjoyed crafts, playing cards, fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling to Yuma, Arizona to snowbird for several years. She loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful mom.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Earhart, Forest Grove and Debra Gardner, Weston; adopted children, Lucky and Joan Myrick; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hiatt, Ontario; grandchildren, Denise and Donald; special friend and caregiver, Melinda Earll; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands, Warren Rust and Clyde Berry; her parents; and siblings, Bob, Myrtle, Pearl, Lee and Mary.
A private burial will be at the Hermiston Cemetery.
