Scottie Knapp grabbed a share of the lead in the bull riding event at Thursday night’s Farm-City Pro Rodeo.
Knapp’s 82 aboard Cowboy Up tied him with Ty Wallace, whose 82 led the event after Wednesday’s performance. Knapp, ranked 12th in the world in bull riding, was one of just two riders to stay on for the full 8 seconds Thursday night.
The top scores in saddle bronc riding Thursday night weren’t enough to top the 85 posted by Wednesday’s leader, Zeke Thurston. Jesse Bail and Rusty Allen turned in scores of 79. Isaac Dias’ score of 80 on Wednesday remains the second-best score of the week.
In the tie-down competition, Cade Swor finished Thursday with a time of 8.3 seconds, ahead of times of 8.5 posted by Cimarron Boardman and Timber Moore. Their time ties them with Caleb Smidt, who posted his own 8.5 on Wednesday.
Utah’s Kimmie Wall posted the fastest time of the week in barrel racing on Thursday. Her time of 17.05 topped Wednesday’s leader, Callie DuPerier’s 17.09. Hermiston native Callahan Crossley turned in a time of 17.46.
Contestants in the steer wrestling event had a tough night on Thursday. Nik Hamm of Battle Ground Washington had the night’s best time at 5.0, but that still was more than half a second behind Wednesday’s leader, Luke Branquinho, who posted a 4.4.
In the bareback event, Winn Ratliff of Leesville, La., came away Thursday night with a score of 84, topping Wednesday’s best score of 82, posted by Teddy Anthan, who now is tied for fourth place with Orin Larsen and Jake Vold. Tim O’Connell and Seth Hardwick are tied for second after posting 83s on Thursday.
In team roping, just two contestant posted times, with Clayton and Chase Hanssen turning in the fastest time of 9.5 seconds, well behind the time of 4.7 turned in Wednesday by Derrick Begay and Clay O’Brien Cooper.
Night three of the Farm-City Pro Rodeo gets started at 7:45 p.m. tonight.
