The Hermiston School District has welcomed Mark Gomolski to position #3 of the Hermiston School Board.
Gomolski was elected May 16 as a write in candidate and was officially certified as the winner of the election on Tuesday, May 31. Board member Don Rankin previously held the position and did not seek re-election following 12 years of service.
“I applaud Mr. Gomolski’s commitment to public service and his willingness to serve in this important role,” said Superintendent of Hermiston Schools Fred Maiocco.
Gomolski retired and moved to Hermiston from Chicago. He has been very active in the community. He is a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church’s Finance Council, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus, Hispanic Advisory Committee, and a cook at the Friday soup kitchen for the Catholic Church. He also ran for city council in November 2016.
