A paving project along U.S. 730 that begin last year will gear up again next week between Old River Road in Umatilla and Willamette Street at McNary.
The Oregon Department of Transportation’s contactor, Roy Houck Construction of Salem, will begin paving operations April 23. The work will take place at night between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. and result in the temporary closures of the Interstate 82 Exit 1 interchange ramps. Two interchange ramps will be closed at a time with warning signs advising travelers to use alternate routes.
The ramps will only be shut down at night and all work on them is expected to be done by April 27. Other than the temporary ramp closures, travelers can expect flaggers, reduced speeds, lane closures, rough pavement surfaces and delays of up to twenty minutes at times. Please plan extra time if traveling through this area and remember that traffic fines are double the amount in highway work zones.
All work on this paving project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
After work near I-82 Exit 1 is completed, nighttime paving activities on U.S. 730 will continue, moving east towards McNary. During resurfacing work at the U.S. 395 intersection, travelers should expect extra congestions and be prepared for delays.
