Nikki Jane Payne Johnson passed away at home in Umatilla on March 9, 2024.
She was born on May 10, 1972 in Caldwell, Idaho.
She grew up in Parma, Idaho and moved around often before settling down in Umatilla County. Nikki enjoyed being outdoors, taking photos, fishing, and walking on the beach. Some of her favorite memories were riding on the back of a motorcycle and taking her children to see Keiko at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. She was dedicated and hard-working. Nikki also had a passion for animals which led to her job as the store manager of Pet Sense in Hermiston. She was devoted to her family, friends and especially her many grandchildren, who were her world.
She is survived by her mother, M. Elaine Hurd; sisters, Lynette Barthel and Noel Payne; her brother, Fred Payne; life partner, Sean McClure; children, Stephanie, Michelle, Courtney, Sammi, Dylan, James, and Tia; as well as her 12 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and chosen family.
Nikki was preceded in death by her father, Merlin J. Payne; stepfather, Gary Hurd; and husband, James Johnson.
A grand celebration for Nikki will be held at the Zeal Church, 730 E. Hurlburt Ave., Hermiston on Friday, March 22 at 5 p.m. While attending Nikki’s celebration we ask that you wear purple in honor of her.
