Seven citations and nine warnings were given out during the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office during the Memorial Day weekend.
The primary intent of the DUII/High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) events is to increase law enforcement’s presence in the community, and to prevent deaths from impaired drivers.
“No DUII arrests were made during this event (and) the UCSO did not have to respond to any related crashes,” said Sgt. Joshua Roberts. The enhanced patrols were conducted by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office from May 22-25.
These events are funded through a grant from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association. The next DUII/HVE event is scheduled for Fourth of July weekend, July 3-5.
