Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) has welcomed Christopher Bowen, DO, to its medical staff and Good Shepherd Women’s Center.

Bowen, an obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN), joins Drs. Leila Keeler, Allison Khavkin, Keith Lutter and Ken Snider, as well as certified nurse midwives (CNM) Cynthia Rice and Kelli Stephenson.

Bowen recently completed his residency at Henry Ford Wyandotte in Wyandotte, Mich., after graduating from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Greensburg, Penn., and is board eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Born in Kennewick, Wash., and spending his childhood growing up in Yakima, Wash., Bowen said he’s happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest where he is closer to family again.

“As a child, my father used to take me on motorcycle rides here in Hermiston and my grandfather was born here as well – It’s really great to be back,” he said.

Bowne is trained in da Vinci Robotics with both the old and new systems. Robotics is a highly-desired service for patients seeking laparoscopic surgeries.

“This makes for precise incisions and shorter recovery times for surgeries such as hysterectomies,” Bowen said. “The robot provides us with enhanced abilities that takes complicated laparoscopic procedures and makes them less complicated.”

Good Shepherd Women’s Center provides health care services to females of all ages, including screenings, well-woman exams, birth control consults, prenatal care and more.  The OB/GYNs and CNMs work collaboratively throughout prenatal care and delivery to ensure patients and their babies are as safe and healthy as possible.  Maternal-Fetal Medicine (for high-risk pregnancies) is also available through Legacy Emmanuel in Portland, a specialty not normally available in rural health care systems.

“I’m excited to be part of a growing community and to make a difference in women’s health in Eastern Oregon,” said Bowen.  When not working, Bowen enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his significant other, Natalie, and their three children.

Bowen is welcoming new patients at Good Shepherd Women’s Center, located at 620 NW 11th St., Suite 106 in Hermiston.  For more information, call 541-667-3801 or schedule an appointment online.  Patients are encouraged to enroll in Good Shepherd’s MyHealth Patient Portal where appointment reminders, test results, billing and more are available at their fingertips.  Visit www.gshealth.org/myhealth to enroll.
