The Oregon Department of Transportation has begun work in downtown Pendleton to replace signal poles, upgrade traffic signals and make ADA improvements at the intersection of S.W. Dorion Avenue and S.W. First Street.

Traffic impacts:

Traffic impacts will be minimal the week of June 10 while the contractor sets up traffic control and work zones.

Once construction begins, ODOT said it will keep impacts to a minimum. Motorists will be able to use S.W. Dorion Avenue, but S.W. First Street access will be limited near the intersection.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid congestion.

SW Dorion Avenue traffic can expect:

  • Intermittent single-lane closures.
  • Delays up to 20 minutes.

SW First Street traffic can expect:

  • Intermittent closures for through traffic.
  • Watch for signs and intermittent flaggers through the work zone.

Pedestrians and bicyclists can expect:

  • Sidewalk closures and detours leading up to the intersection.
  • Access for all pedestrians will be available through or around the work zone.
  • Bicyclists will follow vehicle or pedestrian routes.

Businesses will remain open during construction.

Crews will be working Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2024.
