An employee of the Oregon Department of Transportation had a terrifying near-miss with a falling tree on Monday while driving on Interstate 5 – and it was all captured on video.
The video, taken from inside ODOT employee Beau Appling’s state vehicle, captures a huge tree just up ahead beginning to fall toward the interstate near Wolf Creek.
Appling and drivers around him were unhurt.
Appling’s experience is an example of other potential hazards besides rain, snow and ice during winter driving in Oregon. Thanks to the help of the Oregon State Police and the generosity of a local logging crew, the tree was cleared from the interstate relatively quickly.
