ODOT Wrapping Up Remaining Eastern Oregon Highway Projects

With a little over a month remaining in the 2020 construction season, the Oregon Department of Transportation has a handful of projects still in progress.

Here’s a look at the remaining projects in the Umatilla County area and any impacts on traffic:

I-84 Old Oregon Trail Highway – Hinkle-Stanfield emergency paving, milepost 184-188. Expect intermittent lane closures and reduced speeds through the end of October. Work is ongoing. Completion: October 2020.

I-84 Old Oregon Trail Highway – Multiple safety enhancements between Pendleton and La Grande including new variable message boards, road sensors/cameras, lighting, curve signs and more, milepost 214-260. Reduced speeds, minor delays, plus intermittent shoulder/lane closures throughout work zone. Work is ongoing. Completion: November 2020.

U.S 730 Columbia River Highway – Pavement, storm drain and sidewalk/ADA ramp upgrades in downtown Umatilla, Umatilla River Bridge to Yerxa Avenue, milepost 182.7-183.4. Flaggers, lane and sidewalk closures. Work is ongoing. Completion: November 2020.

OR 37 Pendleton-Cold Springs Highway – Repair bridge over Union Pacific Railroad at milepost one, one mile east of U.S. 730. Five week detour around work site via U.S. 730, U.S. 395 through Hermiston and I-84 between Stanfield and Pendleton. Work is ongoing. Full bridge closure ends October 26. Completion: November 2020.
