ODOT's East Region Gets New Manager

In June 2016 the Oregon Department of Transportation promoted Craig Sipp as the new Region 5 Manager, replacing Monte Grove who retired after 30 years of state service.

The Region 5 Manager is responsible for ODOT operations in the eastern Oregon area, covering over a third of the state. Sipp is no stranger to the cities, counties, Tribes, contractors and other stakeholders who call Eastern Oregon their home, having served as the Region 5 Area Manager for the past six years and other roles in Region 5 since 2000.

“Craig as proven his value as a leader for the agency and receives high praise from city, county and Tribal representatives in Eastern Oregon,” said ODOT Deputy Director Paul Mather. “His 30 years of past service at ODOT have prepared him well for this important position.”

Sipp started his ODOT career in 1986 with The Dalles construction crew as a Project Inspector and worked his way up to Assistant Project Manager. In 2000 he became the Region 5 Bridge Inspector and then held roles as a Consultant Project Manager, Traffic Engineer, and Project Manager. He attended Blue Mountain Community College and then Oregon Institute of Technology receiving an engineering degree. He is a professional engineer.
