One person was hospitalized Thursday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Westlund Road in Hermiston.
This morning at 6:59 a.m., Umatilla County Fire District #1 was dispatched just before 7 a.m. to a motor vehicle accident on Westland Road. Upon arrival, crews came across a two-vehicle collision. One patient was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center.
The district is reminding motorists that Westland Road is still being chip sealed and should be driven on cautiously. During chip seal operations, and several days afterwards, drivers are advised to drive slower and safer. The road surface acts like a gravel road and has piled up in certain areas. Avoid passing other vehicles, speeding, turning too sharply and rapid acceleration. Motorcycle riders should use extreme caution.
