She was born in Miami, Okla.,on Feb. 27, 1941 to James and Vivian Olson. Opal was a resident of Hermiston the past 25 years. Opal married the late Robert Townsend Jr., and later divorced. She then married James Settles and later divorced.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Mills and Jeanine Wolfe.
Opal is survived by two daughters, Janella Phillips and Pamela Bybee; brother, James Olson; sister, Wanda Linville; grandchildren, Luke Phillips, Kristy Phillips, and Megan Bybee; and five nieces, and five nephews.
Disposition was by cremation. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
