What do you do if you’ve missed your bus home and were strapped for cash?
According to the Tri-City Herald, a Pendleton man found himself in that situation Wednesday. Douglas Kent Harper, 65, had come to the Tri-Cities to try to sell a ring, but was unable to, according to the Tri-City Herald. When he missed his bus ride back home, he allegedly hid inside a dressing room in JCPenney, but alarms were triggered and a mall employee called 911.
The Herald reported that Kennewick and Richland police surrounded the store before finding Harper hiding in a dressing room. He was booked into the Benton County Jail on an investigative hold for second-degree burglary and as a fugitive from justice stemming from a felony warrant out of Oregon.
Harper told law enforcement officials that since he had missed his bus and had no other means to get home, he decided to stay the night inside JCPenney.
