Motorists can expect to see up to 2,200 bicyclists on Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon routes this week as Cycle Oregon continues its week-long ride.

The annual two-wheeled pilgrimage incurred a hiccup in travel plans due to the Dry Gulch fire burning near Halfway in east Baker County. The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/9Xxf77) that ride officials, prompted by safety concerns, said Monday they would have to cancel plans to ride through Halfway.

Cycle Oregon stayed in Cambridge, Idaho Tuesday night. Today, they will be traveling to Farewell Bend State Park, then pedal to Baker City on Thursday. On Friday, the pack of cyclists will venture to La Grande, returning to Baker City on Saturday for the final day of the week-long trek.

Motorists are advised to drive with extra caution, watch for bike riders and share the road. Heavy bike traffic can be expected on the following routes.
