The Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department is offering a basketball academy for children who are in first through eighth grades.
The academy will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the following Sundays: Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15, and Nov. 22. All sessions will be at Sandstone Middle School and will be coached by Steve Hoffert and Mitch Thompson. Players will learn ball handling, defense, shooting and other fundamentals.
The cost is $85 for Hermiston residents and $100 for non-residents. The fee includes a T-shirt. The sign-up deadline is Friday, Oct. 9. For more information, call 541-667-5018.
