Patricia Ann “Patty” Pancoast of Stanfield passed away on March 26, 2023 in Portland at the age of 73.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1950 in Nampa, Idaho to Rudy and Stella Burback Hosek.
As a child, Patty moved with her family to southeast Portland, where she attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic grade school. She later graduated from John Marshall High School in the class of 1968.
In her early career, Patty worked in Portland area restaurants. She then worked as a teacher’s aide at Oregon and Arizona schools, where she assisted with the care of developmentally disabled students for many years. She finished her working career in casino administration in 2008 to care for her granddaughter, Shelbie.
In 2020, Patty moved from Indiana to Eastern Oregon to be closer to her family. She lived on the golf course in Umatilla for a couple of years, where she was able to make new friends and reconnect with her brother Ron and his family. She had resided in Stanfield for the past year.
While living in Arizona and Nevada, she loved going to area lakes and having family picnics, and she enjoyed going on several cruises.
Patty married Floyd Pancoast on Aug. 29, 1981 at Vancouver, Wash.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd; son, Matthew (Patty) Pancoast; daughter, Gail Pancoast; brother, Ron (Susan) Hosek; brother, Larry Hosek; brother-in-law, Don Adams; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shelbie Pancoast in 2009; and a sister, Jeanette Adams .
A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.
Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
