The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident Monday in which a pedestrian was killed after apparently stepping in front of a vehicle intentionally in Hermiston.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. the county’s Regional Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a man walking or jumping in front of traffic in the area of Umatilla River Road and N.W. 11th Street in Hermiston.
While deputies were enroute, a caller reported the man had been struck by a vehicle. The sheriff’s office and the Oregon State Police responded.
The man was declared deceased at the scene. The sheriff’s office did not release the name of the pedestrian or motorist.
The investigation remains ongoing.
