Pedestrian Struck by Hermiston Police Car

A pedestrian was hospitalized today after being struck by a Hermiston Police officer.

The accident occurred after two police officers responded to an alarm call around 4:40 a.m. at Sandstone Middle School. According to Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston, after the officers discovered it to be false alarm, they left the school property. One of the officers turned on to N.E. 10th Street and struck an elderly male standing in the roadway. The man was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center.

The accident is being investigated by the Oregon State Police. Calls to the OSP for more information have not been returned.
