Peggy Lockwood Passes Away at 95

Peggy Jeanne Lockwood of Hermiston died on April 21, 2018 in Hermiston at the age of 95.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1922 in Winona, Wash. to Lacey Eugene Means and Johannah W. Lust Means.

Peggy was raised, attended school and graduated in Endicott, Wash. She then attended beauty school in Spokane, Wash. for a time before getting married and starting her family. She was a stay-at-home mom in Spokane and later Colfax, Wash. before moving to Portland. Peggy trained to become a lab technician at United Medical Labs before moving to Pendleton in 1964. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital in the lab and later at the Eastern Oregon State Hospital. Peggy moved to Kirkland, Wash. in 1972 for her husband, Keith’s employment, where they lived before moving to Salem. After Keith passed away, she moved to Prineville for several years and has lived in Hermiston for the past year and a half.

Peggy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved sewing, flowers (especially succulents and fuchsia baskets), calligraphy, cooking and baking for her family, as well as baking and decorating wedding cakes for family and friends. Peggy was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma.

She is survived by her daughters, Judie Bryan (Jim), Prineville, Andrea Booth, Nesbit, Miss., Diana Ruud (Dennis), Chesapeake, Va. and Debbie Walter (Jerry), Hermiston; sons, David Lockwood (Connie), El Mirage, Ariz., Gary Lockwood (Beverly), Mission, Texas and Steve Lockwood (Diane), Irrigon; brother, Jack Means (Anna Jean), Happy Valley; sister, Kay Slawson, Ridgefield, Wash.; 23 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Keith Lockwood; daughter, Jeannie Elley; great granddaughter, Hudson Walter; her parents; sister, Harriet Kofford; and a son-in-law, Larry Booth. Burial will take place at the Endicott Cemetery in Endicott, Wash. in September of this year.
