Pendleton Explosion Kills 25-Year-Old Man

A 25-year-old man was killed when an explosion occurred at the former Pendleton city Hall building early Tuesday morning.

According to KGW.com, a second person was critically injured. It’s unclear what caused the explosion.

According to KGW.com, the explosion took place around 8 a.m. and blew out the third-floor windows of the former government building, igniting massive flames that burned for more than an hour and injuring at least one person.

Part of the century-old building was destroyed in downtown Pendleton. The building, now used as residential and office space, housed Pendleton’s city government until the mid-1990s, when City Hall moved and the building was sold to a private owner.
