An Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) adult in custody, Gary Schurgin, died on Sunday.
Schurgin was incarcerated at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton and passed away in the institution’s hospice program. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified and the Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
Schurgin entered DOC custody on Nov. 2, 2016 from Clatsop County. His earliest release date was June 21, 2022. He was 53.
