Pendleton's Jack McPherson Dies at Age 83

Jack L. McPherson, 83, of Pendleton, passed away on June 27, 2014 at his home.

He was born on April 7, 1931 in Scottsbluff, Neb., to William and Ernestine Hiersche McPherson. Jack moved with his family to Pendleton in 1945. He attended school in Pendleton, graduating from Pendleton High School in 1949. Jack joined the U.S. Navy and served on the Carrier USS Essex until his honorable discharge. He was employed with Pacific Northwest Bell and retired from Qwest in 1986. Jack was a life member of the VFW Post # 922 and a 51-year member of the Pendleton Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughters, Wren & husband Greg, and Galen & husband Dary; grandson, Corey & wife Mary; great-granddaughters, Renna and Maggie; sisters, Marie Rogers and Patricia Hull; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tracy; granddaughter, Stacy; four brothers and two sisters.
A private family burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery.
