Phillip Dixon

Beloved son and brother, Phillip Gary Dixon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 15, 2022 at his home in Irrigon at the age of 68.

He was born on March 9, 1954 in Walla Walla, Wash. to Tomas Dixon Sr. and Erma Jennings Dixon.

Phil attended school in Boardman before moving to Irrigon in 1968, where he had lived since. He enjoyed watching movies and 1970s television shows.

Phillip, an avid science aficionado, enjoyed an intense interest in weather phenomena, astronomy, geology, computer technology and biology. He demonstrated these interests through the use of numerous telescopes, binoculars, science-oriented mechanical devices, computers and digital camera equipment, and through the purchase and use of numerous books and periodicals. He also traveled to many locations throughout the Pacific Northwest in pursuit of these interests, including to Mount St. Helen’s volcanic site and numerous other points of interest throughout Oregon and Washington.

Phillip appreciated the television culture of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. He noted many popular television shows of these periods as his favorites and collected numerous pieces of paraphernalia associated with his favorite shows, including many popular cartoons. His family also immensely enjoyed helping collect these items for him. Star Trek, The Six Million Dollar Man, Gilligan’s Island, Scooby Doo, and Underdog were some of his favorites.

Phillip also possessed a very particular gastronomic appreciation for food. He had designated foods that he liked and would eat and foods he definitively would have no association with.

Lastly, Phillip was a lover and follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and often sang His praises and related his experiences of his relationship with Him.

Phillip, beloved son and brother, will be sorely, sorely missed by his family and friends. You left too soon, beloved one.

Philip is survived by his mother, Erma Alice Dixon of Irrigon; brother, Thomas Levi Dixon of Hermiston; sister, Shirley Ann Bolsinger of Boring; sister, Mary Elizabeth Dixon of Klamath Falls; niece, Tracy Bolsinger of Boring; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Katherine Hillary Dixon (daughter of Mary) and his father, Thomas Levi Dixon Sr.

Services were held on Dec. 21, 2022.
