Pilot Rock School District has hired David Norton to serve as new assistant superintendent and principal of Pilot Rock Jr/Sr High School for the 22-23 school year.
“The community has a tremendous amount of pride and support for their schools and students, and I feel fortunate to be a part of that tradition,” Norton said.
Norton said the priority in his new role will be to support students, staff and the community in every way possible. He said he looks forward to working together with the district team to help students find success and to prepare them for life after graduation.
Pilot Rock SD Superintendent Troy Jerome said the district is pleased to have Norton join the administrative team. “David comes to Rocket Nation with many years of experience. His leadership skills and student-first mindset will greatly benefit our students and staff for years to come,” Jerome said.
Norton was the vice principal at Riverside Jr/Sr High in the Morrow County School District from 2015 to 2017 and then principal there from 2017 until this month. During his tenure at Riverside, the school’s graduation rate improved from 76% (15-16 year) to 100% (21-22 year). Norton previously worked for the Pendleton School District and the Oregon Trail School District.
Norton replaces TJ Presley, who resigned from Pilot Rock School District to work in the Pendleton School District. Norton begins his new role on July 1.
