Just days after a Hermiston teenager and his mother were cited in connection to a rash of graffiti vandalism in town, Hermiston police cited another mother-son pair on similar charges.
On Saturday afternoon, a 16-year-old Hermiston male was taken into custody for his alleged involvement with vandalism at Funland Park. According to Hermiston police, the teen used a black marker to canvass the playground with symbols and drawings. The boy was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and unlawfully applying graffiti before being released to his mother.
The mother, Jamie Emerson, 36, 1315 N.E. Misty Drive, was charged with failure to supervise a child.
The graffiti will be removed from the park by the Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department.
Last week, police charged a 14-year-old boy with two counts of criminal mischief and eight counts of unlawfully applying graffiti, and his mother was cited for failure to supervise a child. The graffiti impacted several Hermiston businesses and caused several thousand dollars in damage.
