Transportation safety advocates, local city/county representatives, concerned citizens and other interested parties are encouraged to attend a public meeting in La Grande on Jan. 26 regarding the state’s draft Transportation Safety Action Plan.
The meeting will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the La Grande Public Library, 2006 4th St.
The multi-year effort is taking the next step toward completion with a round of “listening sessions” taking place throughout the state this month. The public is invited to discuss the draft goals and policies, and help identify “emphasis areas,” which are priority actions to address transportation safety over the next five years.
The plan, known as the TSAP, provides long- and short-term policy for making decisions that address the core transportation safety challenges and opportunities facing Oregon. It also serves as the federally-required Strategic Highway Safety Plan.
More information about the TSAP, including background data, other meeting locations/dates and a link for attending an on-line open house is available on the Oregon Department of Transportation website. Anyone interested can also submit comments to safety@odot.state.or.us.
