Raymond E. “Ray” Peck died on June 12, 2024 at his home in Ione at the age of 73.
He was born on June 30, 1950 in Heppner to Henry and Josie Peck.
Ray was raised and attended school in Condon, graduating in 1968. Ray married Deborah Bufton on Feb. 1, 1980 in Heppner. He worked for many years as a millwright for Kinzua and later as a welder for Waste Management in Arlington. Ray moved to Ione in 2012, where he had lived since. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and being in the mountains hunting, camping and mushrooming. Ray could grow anything, including pineapple plants in his home.
He is survived by his son, Josh Peck and his wife Sheri, Ione; brothers, Bill Peck, South Carolina, Richard Peck, Echo and Burt Peck, Hermiston; sister, Martha Cernardez, Alaska; grandchildren, Cassie, Brandon and Hailee; great-grandchildren, Brody and Cora; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; his parents; sisters, Jeanette and Dorothy; and brothers, Lyle and Ron.
A family celebration of life will be held.
