As the caucus budget lead, Smith will provide regular updates to House GOP members on critical issues related to the state budget and advising the caucus on how to approach pending budget bills.

“Under the leadership of House GOP Leader Mike McLane, I have been tasked with working hard to ensure GOP priorities are addressed in the budget process,” said Smith. “We know the Legislature will be going into the next legislative session with a current budget that is not sustainable. To solve these problems, it will require Republicans and Democrats to put aside the politics and focus on solutions. We want a budget that works for all Oregonians.”

Smith will be sworn in for his ninth term as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives early next year. As the representative for House District 57, he serves constituents in Umatilla, Morrow, Gilliam, Sherman, and Wasco counties.
