Rep. Smith Names EOU Student as Communications Director

Oregon State Rep. Greg Smith (GOP-Heppner) has hired Jorden Payne as his new communication director.

Payne’s responsibilities will include handling media inquiries and coordinating community and public outreach.

Payne is a senior at Eastern Oregon University and will be graduating in the spring with a degree in communications. He is very involved with local organizations and is currently an ASEOU- Student Body Senator. Jorden also was a member of the EOU football team where he served as captain for the 2017 season.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to work with Rep. Greg Smith,” said Payne. “I’m looking forward to serving the citizens of District 57 and helping to make Oregon a great place to live and work.”

“District 57 will be well served by Jorden,” said Smith. “His passion and motivation make him a great asset to our legislative team. We’re excited to have him on board.”

Smith represents House District 57, which includes Umatilla, Morrow, Gilliam, Sherman, and Wasco counties. He is serving his ninth consecutive term in the Oregon House of Representatives.
