Here are the results from the opening night of the Farm-City Pro Rodeo:
Bull Riding
Jeff Askey was the only competitor to make to the horn Wednesday night. The Athens, Texas cowboy posted a score of 82 on Dirty Steve.
Saddle bronc
Brody Cress, aboard Calgary Stampede horse Sergeant Whitney, set an arena record Wednesday on the opening night of the Farm-City Pro Rodeo. Cress, from Hillsdale, Wyo., took first place in the saddle bronc competition with 89 points, besting the previous record by one point.
Dawson Hay of Big Valley, Alberta, Canada, turned in the night’s second-best performance with an 87, followed by Rusty Wright and Spencer Wright who each scored an 86.5.
Bareback Riding
Tildon Hooper of Carthage, Texas had the high score with an 87 while riding Girl Crush.
Steer Wrestling
Clayton Hass posted the fasted time on Wednesday with 3.6 seconds. Blake Knowles of Heppner had the night’s second-best combined time over two runs with 8.4 seconds.
Barrel Racing
Sissy Winn of Chapman Ranch, Texas, and Kelly Bruner of Millsap, Texas each had times of 17.2 seconds to sit atop the standings after the first night.
Tie-Down Roping
Kincade Henry of Mount Pleasant, Texas had the top performance Wednesday night with a time of 8.5 seconds.
Team Roping
Quinn Kesler of Holden, Utah and Caleb Hendrix of Fallon, Nevada just barely edged the competition Wednesday with a time of 4.9 seconds – a tenth of a second faster than Derrick Begay and Cory Petska of Arizona, who posted a time of 5.0 seconds.
