Morrow County participants of the Ford Institute Leadership program will be unveiling a newly-constructed pavilion at Marker 40, a popular sandy beach in Boardman located on the Columbia River in the Port of Morrow.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon on Friday, May 9 under the new pavilion and will be followed by a barbecue lunch catered by The Country Gentleman.
This community event will mark the completion of a year-long project that will benefit the residents and visitors of Morrow County. In 2013, members of the Morrow County Cohort selected to construct a 24×48 pavilion and two shade pergolas at the widely-used beach to compliment the public restrooms and a paved walking trail that is already in place.
The project was planned and organized by Morrow County volunteers and funded by contributions from area businesses and various grants. This event is open to the public and an RSVP is requested to make sure there is an adequate amount of food. Please RSVP to Brenda Profit at profitb@morrow.k12.or.us or 541-571-7642.
