Richard Fetters of Hermiston died on Dec. 14, 2023 in Hermiston at the age of 78.
He was born in Colusa, Calif. on July 17, 1945 to Eldon Fetters and Zelma Methvin Fetters.
Richard grew up in Trinidad, Calif. with his parents and two older sisters, Arlene and Dareen. Richard grew up working on the fishing docks in northern California before joining the Army in 1969. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
In 1983 he moved to Oregon, where he worked at Simplot and Lamb Weston as a boiler refrigeration mechanic for many years. Richard enjoyed surfing as a young man and boxing. He never missed a meteor shower and would never turn down good seafood. He loved the ocean, the California redwoods, great music, and being surrounded by family.
Richard is survived by his five children, Vickie Esterly, Heather Martin, Jessie Fetters, Heidi Fetters and Matthew Fetters; as well as 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A family gathering will be held.
