Richard Bedolla Hernandez of Boardman passed away in an accident on July 16, 2024 near Boardman at the age of 34.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1990 in Hermiston to Roberto and Esthela Hernandez.
Richard grew up and received his education in Boardman. He worked throughout his career as an EMT/firefighter at the Boardman Fire Department, Morrow County EMS, Heppner Fire Department, Umatilla County, and also Gilliam County EMS. His coworkers affectionately referred to him as “Butters” and his family and friends lovingly referred to him as “Tito.” Richard loved cooking and entertaining for his family and friends. He enjoyed working on vehicles, being in the outdoors, traveling and helping people when they needed a hand. Both his personal and his professional life were serving other people. Richard married Donna Sherman on April 15, 2024 in Heppner. He is survived by his wife, Donna and her children; parents, Roberto and Esthela Hernandez; brothers, Roberto (Latisha) Hernandez Jr. and Ramiro (Mayra) Hernandez; and one nephew, Mateo.
He was preceded in death by his dog, Daisy. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6 p.m., also at Burns Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Boardman.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Boardman.
