Richard A. Owens, beloved dad, grandpa, great grandpa and brother, passed away peacefully in his home in Hermiston on Feb. 25, 2023 at the age of 73.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1949 in Portland to Leonard Vernon Owens and Irene Elizabeth Maples Owens.
Richard was raised and attended schools in Ventura, Calif. He served in the United States Army as a mechanic in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1972. Richard moved to La Grande, where he met the love of his life, Linda Marlow. They moved to Hermiston a short time later, where they raised their family. He worked for Agri Northwest for 30 years and later drove truck.
Richard enjoyed working on cars and had a great sense of humor. He loved the outdoors and spent many vacations with his family and friends camping. Richard will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Mandy, Pendleton and Lacy, Glendale, Ariz.; brothers, Rodney, Ontario and Russell, Portland; grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Megan, Anthony and Tyler; and a great-grandson, Sammy.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 850 S.W. 11th St., Hermiston.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
