Robert D. Bellinger of Hermiston passed away in Hermiston on Dec. 27, 2022 at the age of 85.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1937 in Emmett, Idaho to Edward and Ethel Thompson Bellinger.
Robert moved to Hermiston as a child, where he attended schools and graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1955. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 and was stationed in France. He also served in the Army Reserves from 1959 until 1962.
Robert took over the operations of his family’s farm in Hermiston in 1960. When he took over the farm it was a five-acre operation, which he expanded over time to a total of 450 acres. He was very proud of his farm and took great pride in growing Hermiston watermelons.
Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife and friends.
Robert married Lou Ann Eubanks on May 5, 1961 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lou Ann; daughter, Ann Marie Bellinger; son, Jack Bellinger; three grandsons, Ryan Cutsforth, Bobby Bellinger and Brooks Bellinger; great grandson, Quinn Cutsforth; and two sisters.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bellinger Farm Store, 1823 S. Highway 395, Hermiston.
Family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
