Rocky Heights Elementary is kicking off a Run for the Arts week today that continues through Thursday, Oct. 11.

The week will include students running laps to raise money for the arts as well as a performance by musician Aaron Nigel Smith.

Smith will perform reggae music at an assembly for the students on Tuesday followed by a performance for the community at 5 p.m. Smith has won the NAPPA and IParenting Media Awards, Parent’s Choice Award and was recognized in People Magazine.

During the week, Rocky Heights students will collect pledges from family members, neighbors, and friends and will run laps on Thursday. The goal of Run for the Arts is to keep the arts alive in the hearts and minds of students. In previous years the school has hosted authors, artists, and musicians. This is the eighth year of Run for the Arts at Rocky Heights.
