Roger Fair

Roger Alan Fair died on Jan. 19, 2021 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 74.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1946 in Grand Island, Neb. to Dennis and Margit Landholm Fair.

Roger was raised and attended schools throughout Utah before attending Utah State University for one year. He then served in the Army Reserve for six years before his honorable discharge. Roger was united in marriage to Margaret “Markie” Morris on March 25, 1969 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He began his 41-year career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a boiler maker before transferring to become an engineer, a job which me loved. Roger was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Boiler Makers Union.

He loved his family and enjoyed his many hunting and fishing trips with both his sons and his very loyal and well-loved dogs. Roger enjoyed classic car restoration. His 1953 red Ford truck was always the talk of the town when he took it out for a drive. Roger also enjoyed woodworking, where he created spectacular works of art.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Markie Fair, Hermiston; sons, Bryce (Teres) Fair, Echo and Jason (Ellie) West Jordan, Utah; like a son, Tracy (Cynthia) Wyant, West Jordan, Utah; sister, Gloria (Dallas) Irwin, California; two grandchildren, Ruben and Raymond; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Fair.

A private family gathering will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Roger’s memory to a charity of your choice.
