Ron Lamoreaux of Hermiston Passes Away at 70

Ronald G. “Ron” Lamoreaux of Hermiston died on Aug. 14, 2017 in Corvallis at the age of 70.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1946 in Cedar City, Utah to Ralph and Jean Perry Lamoreaux.

He graduated from high school and then attended for one year at the College of Southern Utah. He moved to Tooele, Utah in 1964 and began a 37-year career with the federal government. He was called by Uncle Sam in 1978 and joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge. He was awarded two Bronze Stars with device for bravery and heroism, a Purple Heart for wounds, four Army Commendation Medals for Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Combat Medical Badge.

Ron returned to Tooele, Utah and worked there until transferring to the Umatilla Army Depot in Hermiston, where he worked until his retirement. He married Robin Evans in December 1983. He loved animals (especially raising sheep), fishing, camping, the ocean and cherished time with his family. He had a quick wit and always had a story to share.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Lamoreaux; children: Cory, Greg, Jason, Rebecca, Christopher and Holly; grandchildren: Cody, Dylan, Cyanna, Sadie, Zane, Ty, Wren, Sigg, Bruno, Braden, Hunter, Bailee, Skyler and Dylan; brothers, Ralph Wayne Lamoreaux, Dean Lamoreaux and Kim Lamoreaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Lee Lamoreaux.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.

Burial with military honors will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
