Ronald Dwight “Ron” Linn died on March 9, 2024 at his home in Stanfield at the age of 79 with his wife, Georgia by his side.
He was born on April 2, 1944 in Silverton.
Always the captain of his own ship, Ron died peacefully in his sleep after eating ice cream in the home he built and cherished for many years.
Those who knew and loved Ron were always captivated by his stories, wit, and passion for tinkering and building his many antique cars, boats, and airplanes.
He grew up in the Willamette Valley, where he enjoyed adventuring around the countryside with his late brother, Sam. A highlight of his youth was placing second in the state wrestling tournament. Ron married his high school sweetheart, Georgia Czarny. The pair were married for 60 years.
Ron worked briefly as a journeyman electrician before he found his passion flying airplanes at 21. That led him to a successful career as a crop duster and flight instructor, where he owned his own business for more than 50 years until his retirement. Ron was a pillar in the community.
Ron always lived life to the fullest. He loved writing stories and poetry. Ron was a dreamer, a doer, and a builder. He always said, “You can build anything if you have a library card.” Ron built numerous airplanes, boats and antique cars, as well as his octagon home. He loved adventures near and far. Above all, Ron cherished visiting with people from all walks of life.
Ron is survived by his wife, Georgia; his son, Roy Linn; his daughter, Shelly Kent (Darryl); his brother, Richard Linn (Sandra); his grandchildren, Kandra Kent (Ryan), Kelsey Harding (Nathan), Anna Linn (Cody), Kyla Kent, Tyler Kent and Riley Kent; and his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Owen, Willow, Kylo, and Nora.
All are welcome to a casual celebration of life for Ron on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2 p.m. in his shop.
