Ronald L. Ruth died on July 12, 2013 at his home in Echo at the age of 75.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1938 in Thomas, Okla., to Ernest and Eva Mae King Ruth. Ron was raised and attended schools in Portland.
He married Geraldine “Geri” Tomlinson on Sept. 4, 1957 in Portland. Ron served in the United States Army. They moved to Garibaldi and lived there until 1966 when they moved to Echo where they have lived since. Ron worked at Marlette Homes in Hermiston for several years until his retirement. He was a member of the Anchor Point Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hermiston. Ron enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Geri Ruth, Echo; sons, Gerald “Jerry” Ruth and his wife, Vikki, Hermiston, Lonnie Ruth and his wife, Sue, Pendleton; daughter, Shannon Rhodes and husband, Norman, Hermiston; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Ken Underhill, Portland, and Jim Underhill, Garibaldi.
Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Ruth; his parents;, brother, Frank Ruth; sisters, Ellamea Wills and Maxine Williams; and fishing buddy, Mike Nagy.
