Roy Keith Henry of Irrigon passed away in Portland on April 10, 2023 at the age
of 72.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio to Don and Thelma Popp Henry.

Roy grew up and attended schools on the Oregon coast near Tillamook. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam War. He later served an additional two years in the Marine Corps.

After his honorable discharge, Roy moved to Ontario for several years. He then moved to the Hermiston area and worked for the Umatilla Army Depot for 10 years. He lived in Gardnerville, Nev. for a short time before moving back to Ontario to be closer to family. In 2000 he moved to Irrigon, where he had lived for the past 23 years.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, reloading ammunition and wood working. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a past member of two veterans motorcycle clubs.

Roy married Sandra “Sandy” Christopher in La Grande on Jan. 13, 1973.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy; daughters, Sarah Slawson of Hermiston and Mindy Newdiger of Fruitland, Idaho; sons, Hiram Henry of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jacob Henry of Irrigon; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private family celebration of life will be held.
