Ruben Herrera of Hermiston Passes Away at 59

Ruben Herrera of Hermiston died on July 23, 2016 in Hermiston at the age of 59.

He was born on March 15, 1957 in Edinburg, Texas to Pedro and Ofelia Sanchez Herrera. He was raised and attended schools in the Yakima Valley of Washington. Ruben was united in marriage to Raquel Rivera on August 7, 1982 in Hermiston where they have lived since. He drove farm truck for a time before going to work for Agrinorthwest. Ruben had worked as a mechanic for Agrinorthwest for 21 years at the time of his death. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermiston. Ruben enjoyed fishing, woodworking, the outdoors, and was a master of his BBQ.

He is survived by his wife: Raquel Herrera, Hermiston, OR; sons: Jaime Herrera & wife Kasi, Hermiston, OR, Joel Herrera & wife Yvonne, Hermiston, OR; mother: Ofelia Herrera, Toppenish, WA, brothers: Hipolto, Herrera, Sunnyside, WA, Pedro Herrera Jr., Toppenish, WA; grandchildren: Arian, Jaylee, Joel Jr., & Matthew; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ruben was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Herrera.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1005 SE 9th St., Hermiston, Oregon 97838.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
