Revisiting Higher Ground, the story of the Boardman Community relocation in the 1960s, will be the shown on April 4 at the SAGE Center Theater in Boardman.
The Boardman relocation was necessary due to the construction of the John Day Dam 60 miles west of Boardman. The Revisiting Higher Ground film, winner of the 2007 Oregon Heritage Commission Award of Excellence, looks at the relocation of small Columbia River communities in Oregon and Washington to help provide electric power generation and flood control for the Portland area.
