Sandra S. “Sandy” Vandever died on June 6, 2023 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 72.
She was born on March 20, 1951 at Fort Dix, N.J.
Sandy was married to the love of her life, Jimmy Kieth Vandever for 47 years, and the mother to the late Jeremy Vandever and Darcy Vandever. Sandy was an avid crafter, quilter and gardener. She loved creating beautiful art and found solace among her flowers. She was an active member of the Eastern Star. Education and literacy were passions of hers. She went back to college later in life to obtain a degree in education. She even worked to help prisoners get their GEDs, because she recognized how important that was.
Sandy was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren whom she enjoyed watching grow: Madison, Avery, Leelynn, Blake, Gentry and Oakley. Her grandchildren always brought a sparkle to her eye, and she was so proud of them! While she was gone too soon for most of us, the family takes comfort in knowing that she was met at heaven’s gate with the biggest and long-awaited hug from her son Jeremy.
