A truck and two trailers loaded with hay were significantly damaged Wednesday afternoon in a fire along the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 east of Stanfield.
According to the Oregon State Police, a truck pulling two flatbed semi-trailers loaded with hay was westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 194 when the 60-year-old driver started to smell smoke at approximately 2 p.m. The driver stopped about the same time an OSP trooper pulled up to the scene as they noticed a fire had started.
The driver wasn’t able to detach the truck from the trailers as the fire spread.
Echo Rural Fire Department responded to handle the fire. ODOT personnel responded to handle traffic control.
The cause of the fire was not available at this time.
