Sen. Merkley to Hold Town Hall Meetings in Pendleton, Boardman

Oregon U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley plans to hold in-person town halls in Umatilla and Morrow counties during the afternoon of Sunday, May 19.

The Umatilla County town hall, the first of three Merkley will hold that day in Eastern Oregon, will be at noon in the Nixyaawii Governance Center, 46411 Timíne Way, Pendleton, on the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

Morrow County’s town hall will be a few hours later, at 3 p.m. in the Boardman Senior Center’s Main Hall, 100 Tatone St.

Merkley, the Democrat who serves as Oregon’s junior senator, plans to hold nine in-person town halls in Eastern Oregon on May 17-19.

“I hold a town hall for every Oregon county every year because there is simply no substitute to hearing directly from folks about the ideas and priorities that matter most to them and their communities,” Merkley said in a press release announcing the events. He said he has held more than 550 town halls since winning election to the Senate.

The times for Merkley’s nine Eastern Oregon town halls are Pacific, except for Malheur County, which is on Mountain time

• Harney County, 2 p.m., Harney County Community Center, 478 N. Broadway Ave., Burns.

• Grant County, 5 p.m., Seneca Elementary School, 101 Park Ave., Seneca.

Saturday, May 18

• Baker County, 10:30 a.m., Community Connection of Baker County, 2810 Cedar St., Baker City.

• Union County, 2:30 p.m., Cove High School Gym, 803 Main St., Cove.

• Wallowa County, 6 p.m., Community Connection of Northeast Oregon (Enterprise Senior Center), 702 NW First St., Enterprise.

Sunday, May 19

• Umatilla County, noon, Nixyáawii Governance Center, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, General Council Chambers, 46411 Timíne Way, Pendleton.
