Joseph George Haynes, of La Grande, passed from this earth on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande at the age of 77.
He was born July 2, 1937 at Baker City to Louis and Georgia (Ferguson) Haynes.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery in Hermiston. A luncheon will follow at the Oxford Suites, 1050 N. Highway 395 in Hermiston.
Joe had a passion for supporting his friends and the outdoors and is survived by his children, Mike and Laura Mallory of La Grande, Dwayne and Lauri Huxoll of Hermiston, and Louis Haynes and Mila Pallares of Vernal, Utah; his sister, Louene Landry of Hermiston; eight grandchildren, Kevin Mallory, Jesse Mallory, Kris Mallory, Lisa Decker, Kyle Decker, Kevin Huxoll, Olivia Huxoll and Hannah Haynes; and four great-grandchildren, Joey Mallory, Jackson Mallory, Kaleb Mallory, and Mason Huxoll.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Joyce Haynes; his oldest daughter, Terry Mallory of Hermiston; and his mother and father, Louis and Georgia Haynes.
