Betty “Connie” Fields of Hermiston passed away on July 6, 2023 in Portland at the age of 77.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1945 in Pasco, Wash. to Albert and Betty Ziblay Winkler.
Connie grew up and attended schools in Tri-Cities, Wash. As an adult, she lived in California and Montana for several years. She moved to Eastern Oregon in 1982, where she had resided for the past 40 years. She worked for the Fireside Inn in Pendleton for a time. She eventually purchased the business, which she operated for several years.
Connie enjoyed going camping, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Connie married Robert Fields in Reno, Nev. on March 25, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Darin Tuil, Cory (Danette) Welch, Tanya Ralls, Spring Fields, Jon Fields and Ron Fields; 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; three sisters, Janice (Daniel) Hand, V. Daveda Haney and Hanna “Charlie” Smith; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Winkler and her mother, Betty Bohms.
A celebration of life will be held at the Midway Bar & Grill pavilion at noon on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023.
